A kitchen is rarely just units and a worktop. The price depends on what happens around them: walls, floors, plumbing, electrics and ventilation. In Benissa the same kitchen budget goes differently in an old town house than in a coastal villa, so it helps to know where the money tends to go.
Layout decides more than style
Keeping the kitchen where it is and renewing the units is the simplest job. Moving it, opening it to a living room or adding an island means moving water, drainage and power, and sometimes removing walls. Those changes usually cost more than the choice between one door style and another.
Where the cost sits
- Units. Fitted, handleless and bespoke joinery are priced differently. Bespoke work makes sense where walls are uneven or ceilings are unusual, as they often are in older houses.
- Worktops and splashbacks. Stone, quartz, porcelain and laminate are very different price points, and heavier materials need stronger fixing and careful cutting.
- Services. Old wiring or pipework often has to be brought up to standard when a new kitchen goes in. We would rather tell you at the survey than discover it halfway through.
- Floors, walls and ceilings. Tiling, plastering and painting finish the room and are part of the price, even though they are not part of the kitchen itself.
- Appliances. Whether you supply your own or we do, they affect unit sizes, ventilation and power.
Older houses and villas are different jobs
Thick stone or rendered walls in an old town house can make fixing and running pipes harder, and the room may not be square. In a villa, the kitchen often opens onto a terrace, so layout and doors matter as much as units. Both are straightforward when planned at the start.
Heat and everyday use
Many Benissa kitchens are used for long summers and by guests. Durable worktops, good extraction and hard-wearing floors matter more than they might in a cooler climate, and we will go through the options with you.
