Bathrooms Costa Blanca

Beautiful bathrooms designed for villas, fincas and apartments — practical modern living with the distinctive style of Mediterranean homes.

At Dragon Reforms we design and create bathrooms throughout the Costa Blanca. Whether you are renovating a traditional Spanish finca, modernising a villa or completely transforming an outdated bathroom, we can manage the entire project from the first ideas through to the finished installation.

Today’s bathrooms are no longer simply functional rooms. Large-format porcelain slabs, natural stone finishes, bespoke vanity units, walk-in showers and carefully designed lighting can turn a bathroom into one of the most impressive spaces in the property.

A complete bathroom renovation involves much more than replacing the bath, toilet and tiles. We coordinate the trades the room needs — plumbing, electrics, tiling, plastering, decorating and installation — so the work runs to one programme rather than being chased between contractors.

Villa bathrooms Costa Blanca

Contemporary Bathrooms for Mediterranean Villas

Villa bathrooms suit the new generation of large-format surfaces, walk-in showers and bespoke bathroom furniture. Rather than covering the walls with hundreds of small tiles and grout lines, large-format porcelain panels create an almost seamless surface — cleaner and more luxurious, and a good match for modern Costa Blanca villas.

  • Large walk-in showers with frameless glass screens
  • XXL porcelain wall slabs in marble, limestone and travertine finishes
  • Floating vanity units for a clean, contemporary look
  • Bespoke stone-effect basins and countertops made to the dimensions of the room
  • Wall-mounted taps and concealed shower controls
  • Feature lighting behind mirrors, under vanities and inside shower niches

The aim is a bathroom that feels part of the architecture of the villa rather than simply another tiled room.

Finca bathrooms Costa Blanca

Traditional Mediterranean Character, Modern Comfort

Bathrooms in Spanish fincas need a slightly different approach: modern comfort without losing the warmth and character that makes an older property special.

One of the most attractive current styles combines traditional finca architecture with contemporary natural materials. Warm limestone and travertine colours work particularly well alongside timber beams, natural wood, textured plaster and traditional stone walls. Rather than making an old finca look like a modern city apartment, the bathroom is designed so the new elements complement the original building.

🌲Stone-effect walls and floorsWarm sand, limestone and travertine shades against stone and timber.
🪨Monolithic stone-style basinsBasins that look carved from a solid block, on timber or stone units.
🚿Walk-in showersMinimal glass and concealed drainage rather than a tray and enclosure.
🛡Aged brass or matt-black fittingsTaps and shower controls with a more traditional Mediterranean character.
🪨Microcement-style finishesSofter, continuous surfaces where tiling would break the room up.
💡Soft architectural lightingLight used to pick out stone, plaster and textured surfaces.

The result is a bathroom that feels contemporary without losing its Spanish finca character.

Large-format porcelain

Fewer Joints, Bigger Surfaces, a Different Look

One of the biggest changes in contemporary bathroom design is the move to large-format porcelain slabs. Instead of conventional tiles, very large sheets cover substantial sections of wall, giving the appearance of natural stone with far fewer visible grout joints.

Depending on the material chosen, the finish can reproduce travertine, limestone, marble, concrete, natural stone or onyx. Book-matched and heavily veined designs can create a spectacular feature wall behind a bath or vanity, or inside a large walk-in shower.

For Costa Blanca properties we particularly like the warmer limestone and travertine finishes, because they sit well with the natural colours and the light of Mediterranean homes.

The Details That Make the Room

🪨Stone-effect basinsLarge-format porcelain and engineered surfaces fabricated into countertops with integrated basins, so the same surface can run across the counter, the basin and the surrounding area.
🛀Wall-mounted tapsCombined with a simple timber or floating cabinet, the basin becomes one of the main design features of the room.
🚿Walk-in showersTaking out a tray and enclosure can make even a modest bathroom feel larger. Low-profile or level shower areas, frameless glass, concealed drainage, rainfall heads, recessed niches and built-in seating.
💧Waterproofing and fallsWith this type of installation the tanking and the drainage are part of the design from the beginning, not an afterthought once the tiling starts.

A successful Mediterranean bathroom does not have to be rustic. Some of the best rooms combine modern, minimal design with traditional Mediterranean materials and colours: warm stone, natural oak, soft white walls, brushed brass and Mediterranean light. It works as well in a contemporary villa as in a centuries-old finca.

Older properties

Bathroom Renovations in Older Costa Blanca Homes

Renovating a bathroom in an older Spanish property can uncover things that are not visible on the first visit.

Older plumbing, drainage, electrical installations and uneven walls and floors may all need attention before any decorative work begins. That is why we treat a bathroom as a complete renovation project rather than a replacement of the visible fittings. Where it is needed, the room is stripped back so the plumbing, the electrics and the surfaces can be dealt with properly, which gives the finished bathroom a far better foundation.

DESIGN → REMOVAL → PLUMBING → ELECTRICS → SURFACES → INSTALLATION → FINISHING

With a complete bathroom renovation there can be a number of trades involved. We coordinate the project so you are not organising separate contractors yourself: plumbers, electricians, tilers, plasterers, painters, carpenters and bathroom installers all working as part of the same job.

Holiday homes and small bathrooms

Practical Bathrooms That Still Look the Part

Not every bathroom needs to be an elaborate installation. For holiday homes and rental properties the priorities are usually different: durable surfaces, an easy-to-clean walk-in shower, good-quality fittings and sensible storage. The aim is a room that looks impressive to guests and to potential buyers while staying straightforward to look after.

Good design can also change a small bathroom completely. Wall-hung furniture, concealed cisterns, a walk-in shower, large mirrors and carefully placed lighting make a compact room feel considerably larger. Large-format surfaces work surprisingly well in small rooms too, because there are fewer grout lines breaking up the walls.
