Are You Looking for a Builder in La Nucía?

Published 20 October 2026 · Dragon Reforms

Finding the right builder in La Nucía is mostly about the house: a hillside villa on a terraced plot asks different questions from a flat in town. Here is how to choose, and what to expect.

La Nucía is an inland town of villas and urbanisations spread across the slopes. When people there say they are looking for a builder, they usually mean one of a few things: an extension, a converted underbuild, a rebuilt terrace, a repaired wall, a layout that finally works or, increasingly, a new home on a plot.

This article explains what a builder actually does on a house like this, the questions worth asking before you hire anyone, and how we approach the work. Dragon Reforms has worked across the north Costa Blanca since 1999, and the quotation is free.

What a builder does

What a Builder Does on a La Nucía Villa

A builder looks after the structure of the house: walls, openings, floors, roofs, terraces and the masonry that holds a sloping plot together. On most renovation jobs the building work comes first, and plumbing, electrics, plastering, carpentry and painting follow it.

That order matters. If the structure is wrong or the walls are damp, nothing fitted on top will last. A good builder therefore looks at the whole house before quoting, not just the room you pointed to, and tells you plainly what needs doing first.

On hillside plots there is often more to see than owners expect: how water runs past the house, how the terrace edge is holding, whether render has started to let go. Spotting those things early is part of the job.

Before you hire

Questions to Ask Any Builder Before You Hire

Whoever you choose, ask for the scope in writing. A clear quotation says what is included, what is not and how the work will be sequenced, so there is no argument later about what was agreed. If a price arrives on the back of a conversation with no detail, ask for more.

Ask who coordinates the other trades. Many owners, especially those who live elsewhere for part of the year, do not want to manage a plumber, an electrician and a plasterer separately. A builder who runs the whole job saves you time and keeps the work in the right order.

Ask how paperwork is handled. Structural changes and some external work may need a licence from the town hall, and some urbanisations have community rules. A builder who knows the area will tell you what is likely to be needed before work starts, not halfway through.

Finally, ask how you will be kept informed. If you are not on site every day, photos and a phone call at the right moments make a big difference.

Typical jobs

The Building Jobs We See Most in La Nucía

Many La Nucía villas were built in phases, so neighbouring houses often share the same layout and the same ageing details. That means the same jobs come up again and again.

Extensions are common, from a larger kitchen or an extra room to a covered area joined to the house. Underbuild conversions turn a half-buried garage or store into guest space or a workroom, once moisture and ventilation have been dealt with. Terrace rebuilds, retaining walls and garden walls hold levels on sloping plots, and roof and render repairs keep the weather out.

Because water runs downhill, drainage and waterproofing belong in every terrace or wall job. Where walls are damp, we look at damp proofing before any new finish goes on, because plaster over a wet wall rarely lasts.

How we work

How Dragon Reforms Runs a Building Job

We begin with a visit to see the house and listen to what you want. The written quotation then sets out the scope and the programme, and a smaller job can be done in days while a larger alteration takes longer.

We carry out the building work and look after the trades that go with it, so plumbing, electrics, plastering, carpentry and painting are fitted in the right order and the room is usable at handover. Owners who spend part of the year elsewhere get photos and updates by phone.

We take on renovation, alterations and extensions to existing homes, and new-build projects worked from your architect's design, managed as one programme. Our work is guaranteed, with the scope set out in the quotation. Images on this site are for illustration only.

Questions

Looking for a Builder in La Nucía — Common Questions

Are you a builder or a renovation company?

Both, in the sense that matters here. We carry out the building work on existing homes, take on extensions and new-build projects from your architect's design, and manage the trades that follow.

Do you work on urbanisation villas in La Nucía?

Yes. We work on villas and homes in La Nucía and its urbanisations. Some have community rules, which are worth checking before work starts, and we can point out what to look for.

Will I need a licence from the town hall?

Structural changes, extensions and some external work may need a licence. We advise at survey so you know the position before you commit to anything.

Can you look after the job while I am away?

Yes. We coordinate the trades and send photos and updates by phone, so you can follow the work without being on site every day.
