Solar Panels & EV Chargers Polop

In an older Polop house the wiring behind the walls usually comes before the panels on the roof. We check the board and circuits first, then advise on solar and a charger.

Polop is a small inland village, with narrow streets, thick-walled houses and homes that have been altered many times. Such houses are charming, but they often have wiring from different decades, and adding generation or a charger to that is not something we do without looking.

On the hillsides around the village, villas are newer and have more roof and parking. Even so, they sit on a slope with their own cable runs and shade from the hills and trees around them. We tell you plainly which of these routes fits your house rather than suggesting everything.

The result is two quite separate kinds of job: careful upgrades in village houses, and fuller installations in villas. We tell you plainly which applies to you and what the sensible order of work is. Old and new parts of one house often have separate boards, which we reconcile.

Old wiring

Why the Board and Circuits Come First

Houses that have grown room by room often contain wiring of mixed ages, and sockets added without a plan. If an old circuit is overloaded, putting solar or a charger on top simply moves the problem somewhere less comfortable. Aluminium or bare cable in very old circuits is a particular worry, and we flag it when we find it.

We inspect the board and trace the main circuits. Where it is sound, we work with it; where it is not, we recommend replacing the board and any doubtful cabling, and explain why in plain language. Damp in thick walls can also affect old wiring, and we keep that in mind.

This is often the least visible and most valuable part of the work. It makes the later steps safer and tidier, and the house easier to maintain for whoever owns it next. You receive a plain list of what was found, house by house.

Thick walls

Running Cable Through Stone, Brick and Plaster

Thick village walls swallow cables. Chasing into old stone is slow, noisy and sometimes unwise, so we look for existing conduits, loft spaces, stairwells and outside routes that avoid cutting into good masonry. Painted trunking on a good wall is often better than a deep chase across an old stone face.

Where a cable must be visible, we make it as neat as possible with trunking painted to suit, and you hear from us in advance if the only option will be seen. Loft spaces under old tiles are usually the easiest route and we use them when we can.

Roof access in the village may be through a stair or a neighbour's terrace. We check how the roof is reached before quoting so the plan is realistic. Flat-roofed extensions at the back sometimes offer the best panel position without touching the main roof.

Villas

Hillside Villas Around the Village

Villas outside the village centre usually have more space for panels and a garage or drive for a charger. Shade from the hills at certain hours of the day, and from trees on the plot, is the thing we check most carefully.

Because these are often reached by narrower roads, delivery of equipment needs planning. We tell you if a vehicle cannot reach the property and what we would do instead. We keep the delivery manageable by bringing equipment in stages. Owners who visit only seasonally can have the work staged to fit their stay.

Many owners are part-time, so we explain how the system will behave while the house is closed and what you would want left running. Shade from pines and carob trees is noted with a few photographs at the survey.

How it works

How a Solar Panels & EV Chargers Job in Polop Works

Our first visit in Polop is as much about the wiring as the roof. We open the board, look at how circuits are arranged, and talk through what you want to add. Because older houses vary so much, we price board work as a clearly separate item.

After that you get a written quotation, with board work listed separately from solar or charger work so you can see each part. We keep you informed by phone during the job and leave the new board clearly labelled. We aim to leave plaster and paint as we found them, or tell you in advance if repairs will be needed.

Questions

Solar Panels & EV Chargers Polop — Common Questions

Can an old Polop village house take solar panels?

Often yes, after checking the roof and the wiring. The board and circuits may need updating first. We inspect, explain what is sound and what is not, and quote the preparatory work separately. We can usually say after the first look whether the board is likely to need replacing.

Will you need to cut into my stone walls?

We try not to. We look for existing conduits, loft routes or outdoor paths first. If a visible route is the only option, we tell you before starting and aim to make it as tidy as possible.

Is there room for a charger in a narrow village street?

Only if you have a private space such as a garage or yard. Street parking is not something we can fit equipment to. We look at your property and tell you honestly what is possible.

Do hillside villas near Polop get shaded?

Sometimes, at certain times of day, by hills or trees. We note shade at the survey and, if it is significant, may suggest a different panel position or a smaller system. Where the village rules for visible changes matter, we flag them for you to check with the town hall.
