Alfaz del Pi and Albir have a large community of people who live here permanently. For them, a power cut is not a missed holiday day but a household without lights, fridge, internet and cooling, and that is why backup comes up so often in conversation.
Solar sits naturally with that way of living, though most of a household's usage falls in the morning and evening, when panels produce less. A battery can help shift power into those hours, and we explain honestly what it can and cannot do.
The area is a mix: villas on the slopes, apartments near the promenade, and older homes that have been extended. Each has its own board, roof and parking arrangement, and we start from what you actually have. The area is also popular with people who work from home, so continuous power matters in daytime too.
Backup
A battery with backup capability can keep selected circuits live when the grid fails, such as lighting, the fridge, internet and perhaps a pump. It does not power the whole house indefinitely, and air conditioning in summer is a heavy ask.
The first step is deciding what counts as essential. We go through your circuits with you, and often the best design separates those essentials onto their own board so the system supplies only what matters. We show you where the battery sits and how to tell if it needs attention.
Batteries need a cool, ventilated, solid place to sit. We inspect the garage, utility room or store and tell you if it will do, because a hot, cramped corner is a bad home for one. Surge protection is worth discussing, since outages are often followed by power spikes.
Evenings
A resident household cooks, washes and watches television in the evening, after the sun has gone. Without storage, much of what the panels make during the day is used while people are out, and the evening comes from the grid.
We therefore talk through what you want from the system before sizing it. For some households, a modest array covering daytime use is plenty; for others, adding a battery changes how useful the system feels. Timers and settings can be adjusted so the house uses more of what the panels make by day.
We never promise a percentage or a saving. We describe the equipment, explain what it is designed to do, and leave the decision to you with the facts in front of you. If you are considering a battery later, we can leave the system ready for it.
Mixed homes
A villa on the slopes usually has room for panels and a garage for a charger. A flat near the promenade depends on the building's roof and bays, and the community's agreement. We distinguish between the two at the start.
Extended houses often have a board that has grown by additions, with circuits labelled in an optimistic way. We check and, where needed, reorganise before adding anything new. Parking in the urbanisations is sometimes allocated, so we check which bay is yours before planning.
If you have an electric car already, tell us what you drive and how it is used. A daily commuter and an occasional runabout call for different charging arrangements. Older homes here may mix very old and recent cabling in the same wall.
How it works
We visit at a time that suits a working household, look through the board with you, and ask what you rely on most. That conversation shapes the proposal more than the roof does. We confirm the date for any short interruption at least a day beforehand, so the household can plan.
The quotation sets out the system, the backup scope and any board work. Installation is planned to keep disruption short, and power is cut only when necessary, with warning given beforehand so the household can plan. Testing of the backup circuits is shown to you directly, so you see what stays on.
Questions
It can run chosen circuits, depending on the battery and how it is wired. It will not usually run everything for long. We discuss which circuits matter to you and quote for a design that supplies those.
It can be, because someone is generally home. Evening use is the limit, so we talk through batteries and your habits. We give an honest opinion and no promises of savings. We can usually arrange this around school runs and working hours.
Often, but it depends on who owns the space and what the community allows. We check the supply and cable route, and say which points to put to the community before work starts. A battery that is full is more useful in an outage, and we explain what the settings mean.
Usually only for short periods while connections are made. We tell you beforehand when interruptions are likely and plan them for times that suit your household. Short interruptions are unavoidable for a few connections, but we keep them brief.
