Sea Air · Apartments · Hillside Villas
Electrical work in Calpe built around salt air, sun and a mix of apartments near the sea and villas on the slopes above it.
In Calpe, the sea is never far away, and neither is the effect it has on a building. Salt-laden air attacks exposed metal, switch plates, outdoor fittings and anything else not chosen for the conditions, which is why electrical work close to the coast needs more than a standard specification.
The town’s housing divides broadly into apartments near the sea and villas on the hillsides, with the Peñón de Ifach as a backdrop to both. Apartments bring shared-building considerations; villas bring terraces, pools and longer cable runs.
Dragon Reforms has been working on the north Costa Blanca since 1999, and we choose and fit materials with Calpe’s coastal conditions in mind.
Coastal conditions
Corrosion is the quiet enemy. Contacts on outdoor sockets, terminals in damp boxes and cheap light fittings can deteriorate within a few seasons, leading to poor connections, nuisance trips or, at worst, overheating.
The answer is good materials and careful sealing. We specify fittings suited to outdoor and coastal use and mount them so water does not collect where it can do damage.
If your existing outdoor electrics are already rusty, cracked or discoloured, they are worth checking. Replacing them is usually modest work compared with the problems they can cause.
Apartments near the sea
Apartments close to the sea are often used as holiday homes or rentals, which means the electrics have to be reliable and simple. We can renew boards, add sockets and fit lighting that copes with heavy use.
Balconies and terraces face the weather directly. Any power or lighting out there needs proper protection, and we fit it accordingly.
Air conditioning is almost universal, so the circuit feeding it matters. We check that the supply is properly matched to the equipment you have or plan to install.
Hillside villas
Villas on Calpe’s slopes usually have terraces, pools and several levels. Planning outdoor lighting and power so that it works across all of them takes forethought, particularly where steps and retaining walls are involved.
With long sunny seasons, owners often ask about solar. Whether it suits your home depends on how much you use, how your roof is oriented and how many months a year you are in residence, and we give an honest view.
Whatever you add, the board needs to cope. We look at the whole installation, not just the new element.
How it works
A visit to the property comes first. We inspect the board, existing circuits and any outdoor fittings, and listen to what you would like to change.
We then prepare a free written quotation. After your approval the work is done, tested and handed over with clear labelling at the board.
