Fincas · Old Town Houses · Coastal Villas · Many Bedrooms
Few towns offer as much variety as Benissa, and a wardrobe has to respond to it. A stone finca with six bedrooms asks very different questions from a stylish modern villa near the water.
Fincas in the countryside around Benissa have often grown room by room, with bedrooms of different sizes strung along corridors and across levels. A coordinated storage plan can pull such a house together, giving each room a purpose and avoiding the clutter of mismatched furniture.
In the old town, houses are tall and narrow, with steep stairs and small bedrooms. Storage there must be fitted around features that cannot be changed. On the coast, villas have sea views and modern rooms and need only a good plan for the many clothes of a family or a rental guest list.
Our team has renovated homes of every age on this coast since 1999. Benissa wardrobes are surveyed, built and installed by our own carpenters, and the quotation, which is free, sets out how the guarantee applies. English and Spanish are spoken throughout.
Fincas
A finca with many bedrooms invites a coherent plan. Rather than quoting each room in isolation, we look at the whole house: which rooms are used daily, which for visitors, and where bedding, linen and seasonal clothes can be gathered to leave guest rooms uncluttered.
Thick stone walls help and hinder. They allow deep recesses that become useful cupboards, but fixing into them needs care and they may hold moisture that must be addressed first. We probe, listen and look before choosing fixings and positions.
Rural houses may also have uneven floors and rough rendering in some rooms. Accurate scribing and the right fixings make the units look good against such surfaces, and we do not build a unit that would simply hide a defect behind it for the next owner to find.
Old town
Old town houses in Benissa run vertically, with small rooms stacked above one another and stairs that turn tightly. A wardrobe here must be carried through narrow doors, so we build in sections that can be taken apart and reassembled on site.
Space is precious, so every part of the room is considered. Under-stair cupboards, deep window seats with storage and landing cupboards add capacity without cluttering the bedroom, and each piece is scribed because the old town's walls are rarely square.
Heritage matters too. Where a house has period features, we choose simple door styles and finishes that complement them. We tell you if a change to a protected or distinctive element might need the town hall's agreement first, and that is easier to settle before ordering.
Coast
Villas along the coast generally have well-proportioned bedrooms and big windows. That makes a full wall of wardrobes straightforward, and the choice becomes mostly one of style: slim sliding doors, full-height hinged panels or open shelving in a dressing area.
Sea air asks for some sensible precautions on any coastal job. We choose corrosion-resistant fixings and boards suited to humid air, and leave ventilation around the unit. Rooms that face the sun benefit from lighter finishes that do not fade or heat up.
Villas are often let, so some owners ask us for a robust, uniform specification across several rooms, which keeps replacements simple. We can price it as one package, and explain how the arrangement is likely to wear over the years, and which parts are worth upgrading.
How it works
We start with a visit. For a finca that may mean walking the whole house, noting wall thickness and floor levels in each room. For an old town house we trace the stair route and measure the tightest turns first.
Your free written quotation sets out each room in turn, giving the layout, doors, hardware and the finish chosen. Once approved, our carpenters make and fit the units, and photographs and updates are sent to you if you live abroad.
Questions
Yes. We look at the whole house, agree what each room needs and quote the set together. Matching finishes and layouts make the house feel planned, and a phased approach is possible if you want to spread the cost.
We check the wall for damp, choose suitable fixings and scribe each unit to the surface. Heavy stone can be difficult to drill, so we plan the fixing points carefully and explain the method we will use.
Usually, provided it is built in sections. The stair route is measured on the visit, and each piece is sized to turn tight corners, then assemble the unit in the bedroom itself, which also protects the stairs and walls.
Yes. Under-stair cupboards and drawers use otherwise dead space. They are built to follow the angle of the stair, and we can finish them to match the wardrobes elsewhere in the house, if you want a coherent look.
